Conrad Hotel – Indianapolis
Posted on May 28, 2010 by David Leazenby
Indianapolis probably will not win awards for the number of examples of mixed use buildings, but it is a leader in how to make a downtown pleasant for residents, workers and visitors alike. The core of the city radiating from Monument Circle is well planned, relatively safe and very convenient to move about on foot. There are a few mixed use buildings that contribute to its success as well. The Conrad Hotel is one that we like for its great mix of uses and its connection to the neighboring buildings. It is a great addition to the downtown area. Located at the busy intersection of Illinois and Washington Street, the 23 story building was built in 2006. It includes 248 hotel rooms, 18 condominiums and two street level restaurants. As a bonus – it also includes direct access to Circle Center Mall, which might make it the most mixed use building in the city.
